At Health Quest Medical Practice (HQMP), our goal is to provide patients with a high quality patient experience. With this in mind, our providers regularly survey patients about their experiences through Press Ganey, an independent patient experience survey company. We collect this feedback and use it to improve patient care experience. HQMP has its own uniquely created star ratings based on certain patient survey responses, which should not be confused with the CMS Physician Compare Initiative.
How are Star Ratings Calculated?
Patients receive a survey from Press Ganey following their visit with an HQMP provider. The anonymous 34-question survey encourages patients to share feedback about their experiences during their recent visit. One question on the Press Ganey survey is “Would you recommend this Provider’s Office to your family and friends?”. The results from this question are averaged to compute a star rating on the HQMP provider’s profile on our Find-A-Doc feature on the Health Quest website. The rating calculations are as follows:
- Yes, definitely (5 stars)
- Yes, somewhat (4 stars)
- No (1 star)
Five stars is the highest rating and one star is the lowest. Star ratings appear only after a physician has received a minimum of 30 returned patient satisfaction surveys in the last 12 months. Only providers who see patients in an outpatient setting receive star ratings, for example, a pathologist would not have a star rating on their profile.
